I promised a Bodie update and I was able to capture his funny quirk of falling asleep sucking on a plushie toy!
He was allowed to come to Kansas City with me a couple of weeks ago. In this picture you can see that he took over his mom Betty's bed! I bought his frog at WalMart and he promptly chew off the eyes because they were hard and proceeded to suck on his froggy's neck.
This is the close up. I promise you, he is asleep. He makes sucking noises which are hilarious. This is my baby Bodie!
So on Friday, March 27, 2009 Jessica and I went to see the wizard! It was spectacular! Big Bravo to the stage hands working the wires! If I were a flying monkey I would have been terrified to be slung around the stage. The wirework that was used when the tornado swept through Kansas was awesome! It was great to see Dorothy flying in the air hanging on to the silo like she really was in a tornado. Ballet Oklahoma had this cool screen that is transparent so you could still see the stage but you could also see wind and lightning.
Emily Fine played the Wicked Witch and she was super fab! I have never seen such quick feet in a ballet dancer. Her part only allowed her to be seen sporadically, but I wished she were on stage for much longer!! She got the biggest reception at the the bow.
Of course no trip to Kansas City it complete to visit the largest furniture store on the planet! It is a small city filled with kooky salesmen wearing white, yes white alligator shoes! You can overlook the pimp salesman's cologne because your senses are assaulted by the vastness of the space! Be warned though, I was willing to trade in my sister for a new California King sleigh bed so it might be prudent to only take what you want to spend or you might find yourself sleeping in a leather reclining chair under the Paseo bridge complete with matching ottoman and rug.
I also found THE cutest bedding set at Pottery Barn Kids. The Dr. Seuss caught my eye in the spring catalog, but after the "Brooke" incident, I wasn't going to get my hopes up. Fortunately the PB Kids by the Cheesecake Factory had the Seuss bedding on the showroom floor! It is spectacular in person and I am please to say I bought it! I also bought the bed shown in the picture and the matching trundle (which is not in the picture) for half price!!! I am in danger of doing what I swore I wouldn't do which is spoil my not yet arrived child!
On the same day that I spent enough to buy a kidney or perhaps a cornea we ate at BRIO! It was okay. The menu description is listed below. They don't know how to make risotto. Mom and Jessica's pizza was better.

So Mary Dunleavy is the person who played Violette in La Traviata and she is divine. Her smooth delivery made me forget I was sitting in a chair fabricated in the early 1920's. Her high "A" gave my skin goosebumps. I LOVE OPERA! Mom and Jess thought it was ridiculous I think. They tolerated the production. Jessica said it was too long. Mom gave a pretty funny performance in the car after it was over that had us rolling. I was all about signing up for the new season but it is not to be since my female relatives said absolutely not.
My trip was fun.....Jessica and I didn't come to blows....My mom's attempt to kill me with my allergies to cats only resulted in me hacking up half of one lung....I think I took a nap every day... I didn't have to drive....I got to eat at the Federal Reserve, which never gets old after 20 years.... I discovered a cool kitchen gadget store in Pryde's Old Newport....I bought furniture for my daughter....I cried at the Opera....A truly perfect week!
This post is difficult for me, because I think I am generally an upbeat, glass half full kind of girl. Just a disclaimer........
I am having T-shirts made for my adoption. This is a fairly good replication of the background. The design will be on a black t-shirt and underneath the artwork will say "Adopt Ethiopia." I promise it won't look like a rectangle on a shirt like the pic!
Saturday, my friends and I tried out the Ethiopian Restaurant in OKC. I warned them in advance not to judge the restaurant by it's location. Trust me when I say I kept my doors locked in the daylight. I had heard from Earlene, my homestudy caseworker about this restaurant and was eager to try it out! It was interesting to say the least. I enjoyed the food.
Tabatha and her son Carson came with us! Carson is picky and he only had OJ and the crackers you see in the picture.
This is Peyton, Holly's daughter and she is 10 months old. She tried and enjoyed everything except the chicken because it was too spicy for her to eat!
Holly is on the left and Shelly is on the right. Holly likes all different types of food so she was game to try anything. Shelly can hear the words, "spicy foods" and she needs an antacid. I was proud for how brave she was to try Ethiopian cuisine.
Sorry Aunt Kelly, I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like before we began. At 12 o'clock is salad, which was awesome. 1 o'clock is curry potatoes. 2 o'clock is lentils (my favorite) 5 o'clock is the left overs of green beans, carrots, and onion. (quite tasty and I definitely don't enjoy cooked carrots and onion) 6 o'clock is a repeat salad. 7 o'clock is lamb. 9 o'clock is chickpeas. 11 o'clock is beef. In the center is chicken.
